Overview
Royal Switch is a story-driven adult visual novel for players who want a slow-burn fantasy tale with female protagonists. The tone favors patience over quick payoff, with room for humor alongside its heavier themes.
Story
Two women, born the same day and nearly identical, are thrown into lives that aren't their own. A princess raised in comfort is captured by thieves who see her as a means to power, while a peasant fleeing a violent father is suddenly cast as the face of a troubled kingdom. Their separate paths ask the same question in different ways: who are they when the roles they were given no longer fit?
Gameplay
Play unfolds as narrative-focused visual novel choices, following both women as their circumstances push them toward self-discovery, submission, or control, depending on the player's decisions. Choices shape how each protagonist responds to pressure, temptation, and the people around her, with intimate scenes woven into the larger arc of each character's growth. The world includes elves, halflings, magic, and other fantasy trappings alongside its human drama.

- 3D-rendered visual novel presentation
- Themes of corruption, submission, and self-determination explored through choice

Changelog
v0.17.1
- Esther goes on a rescue mission. She meets Iris.
- Esther investigates Titus and Ki’Ihl and makes some new friends.
- Be’Keh’s coming of age ceremony.
- Esther goes on some dates.
- Titus asks to talk to the manager.
- Re-write in Chapters 1 and 2: Some people have complained a great deal about the setup scene (the one where Brigitte goes out to confront the guard and is expelled). Their main complaint is that it is preposterous. I have been quiet about this, because my response is this: of course it’s preposterous. But it has always been preposterous! Royal Switch is based on a children’s book published in 1882. For the most part, RS is loosely based on that story. But this one scene is the one most directly lifted from the source. Seriously, it is almost beat-for-beat. My feeling has always been this: if you don’t like this scene, you should complain to Mark Twain. Last I checked, he’s in Elmira, NY. I’m pretty sure he’s still there.
- Anyway, I got tired of hearing about it, so I rewrote it. If you have played before and want to see it, you can go back and play Chapters 1 and 2. The setup is still somewhat preposterous (of course it is), but it puts Brigitte in a better light and sets up the personality of Francis the Guard more fully.
