Overview

Shuusaku - DVD-ROM Edition is a voiced visual novel for players who want a dark, coercion-driven adult story set in a closed school environment. The tone is grim and exploitative rather than romantic.

Story

At Shukusei Music Academy, a prestigious dormitory for gifted young musicians, the handyman Shuusaku learns every secret the girls try to hide. Using what he finds while cleaning up after them, he pressures the academy's most accomplished students into acts that have nothing to do with music, turning his access to the building into leverage over their private lives.

Gameplay

Play follows Shuusaku as he moves through the dormitory, gathering compromising information and choosing how to use it against the students he encounters. Story branches respond to these choices, leading to multiple endings shaped by which secrets are exploited and how far the blackmail is pushed. Scenes are delivered through illustrated visual-novel sequences with voiced dialogue rather than free exploration or resource management.

Features

  • Multiple endings based on the blackmail paths chosen through the story
  • Voiced scenes paired with animated 2D artwork
  • A single closed setting (the academy dormitory) that keeps every encounter tied to the same cast and premise

Notes

The content centers on non-consensual and coercive scenarios, including blackmail, humiliation, and domination themes; players sensitive to these subjects should be aware before starting.

Changelog

  • 1.Updated the launcher.exe.
  • Translator Notes
  • This has been, without a doubt, the most tedious and exhausting project I've ever worked on.
  • The game engine Elf used was built specifically for this DVD version of Shuusaku, meaning no existing tools supported it. I tried everything I could find, and nothing worked — until I got some tools from Zus (of the Assenheim project), who had done the Russian translation. But those were built for the CD version and came without source code, so they didn't work either.
  • From there, I had no choice but to reverse engineer the entire engine from scratch — the file formats, compression algorithms, image formats, and packing algorithms. That alone took a significant amount of time. The biggest roadblock was the GPX image format; I couldn't get the engine to accept my recreated images, and that single problem held me up for a long time on its own.
  • On top of that, I had to resize the text box graphics and then modify hardcoded engine logic to accept the new dimensions and render four lines of text properly. That step alone took roughly a month.
  • It's been a long road, but the game is finally running.
  • If anyone is interested in translating Shuusaku into another language and wants to build on this work, feel free to reach out to me on Discord.
  • You need Japanese locale or an emulator to play the game.
